In 2021, following college athletes’ newly granted rights to participate in NIL opportunities, VicTreeFi created their Framework platform to help them learn how to do just that. From its start, the Framework software has developed into an NIL education resource for many different schools’ athletic departments across the country.
If you’ve ever seen a billboard, social media ad, or commercial with a college athlete promoting a business, you’ve witnessed an NIL deal. “NIL” has become the popular acronym for “name, image, and likeness,” which are also the three components that make up the “right of publicity,” a legal concept used to prevent or allow someone to promote a product or service.
Framework makes it easy for colleges and now (some) high schools to provide high quality, vetted, state-specific NIL education resources to their student-athletes and communities. When learning on Framework, athletes (and their families) are provided with several different avenues of NIL education, ranging from life skills like time management and social media etiquette to NIL-specific skills including brand building, contract negotiating, promotional worth, and more! By using Framework as a learning tool, student athletes can be certain they’ll know how to handle any NIL situation they may come across.
