13-Year-Old Signs NIL Deal to Be the Youngest Nike Athlete in History

McKenna “Mak” Whitham, a soccer prodigy from California, recently struck a deal with Nike at just 13 years old, making her the youngest athlete to ever sign with the world’s largest athletic apparel company.

It’s no wonder Nike asked Whitham to join their elite group of athlete partners, as she plays for the U.S. under-15 youth national team and the Slammers FC HB Koge club team out of Southern California. Despite her extraordinary talent that no doubt landed her where she is, Whitham doesn’t lack the humility or graciousness that comes with being a kid, especially when it comes to this Nike deal. In an interview with ESPN, Whitham noted, “I’m just super excited to be part of the Nike family. They’ve done so many great things so far. And it motivates me even harder. I mean, not every kid gets to get signed by Nike.”

As for what this soccer marvel will do next, there’s no doubt her Nike partnership will continue to open doors. Though, if that fails, her skill of scoring outside the 18-yard box with either feet will certainly take her places.
