Colin Simmons, a 5-Star Plus+ football recruit, recently touched down in Austin to begin his athletic career with the University of Texas this coming spring; however, that’s not the only thing Simmons is pursuing this year. Upon his emergence into college athletics, he was also granted permission to take advantage of any and all NIL opportunities to come his way– a freedom, as you may know, that had not been previously granted to him as a high school athlete.
This past Friday, January 26th, Simmons announced his first NIL deal to be with Vanguard Volkswagen through an Instagram post. Vanguard is one of the more prominent NIL investors and has struck deals with several other Texas players in the past. Now, Simmons is joining a group of his teammates in partnering with Vanguard Volkswagen.
This first NIL deal for Simmons is certainly notable and is hardly the only partnership he is estimated to obtain throughout his career, especially considering his 150,000 social media followers and On3 evaluation of $727,000 that will, no doubt, attract brand deals across the country. Simmons is a well-respected recruit and now equipped for a very successful NIL as well.
